A headstone has one job: to tell future visitors who rests here, for generations. Our granite inlaid headstone does that job twice over. The face is premium polished black granite, laser etched with your inscription, portraits and motifs at photographic quality. Around it sits a marine grade stainless steel surround that protects the stone edges, resists cracking as the ground settles and needs virtually no maintenance from those left behind. The granite inlay is visible from the front and the back, and the whole headstone has a slim, contemporary presence you will not find anywhere else; this design is exclusive to Forever Shining.

How A Granite Inlaid Headstone Is Made
The black granite panel is cut and polished to your chosen shape and size, then laser etched with your approved design; the same process, granite and laser we use on our laser etched headstones. The stainless steel surround is fabricated to match the shape exactly, the granite is set into it, and the finished headstone is fitted to a black granite or stainless steel base, with or without flower vase holders. Every piece is checked, cleaned and packed by hand before it leaves the workshop.

Cemetery Requirements
Cemeteries set their own limits on headstone sizes, bases and sometimes materials. The granite inlaid headstone meets Australian Standards, but check with your cemetery before you order, or send us the cemetery name and we will confirm the rules for you. In Perth we work to the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board requirements at Karrakatta, Fremantle, Pinnaroo Valley and the other MCB cemeteries, and our approved mason can install for you; elsewhere we deliver Australia wide and work with your local installer.

What is a granite inlaid headstone?
It is a headstone made of a polished black granite panel set inside a marine grade stainless steel surround. From the front you see the laser etched granite face with your inscription, portraits and motifs; the steel frame wraps the edges and shows the granite from the back as well. It reads as a classic granite headstone, with the strength of engineered steel behind it.
Why add a stainless steel surround?
A headstone spends its whole life outdoors on ground that shifts slightly over the years. The marine grade stainless steel surround protects the granite edges, resists cracking and keeps the memorial looking cared for with virtually no maintenance. It also gives the headstone a slim, contemporary profile that stands out in any cemetery row.

Can the back of the granite be lasered too?
Yes. The granite inlay is visible from both sides, and a laser etching on the rear face is available as a special request at an extra charge. It is a lovely spot for a verse, a family message or a scene.
Will it be accepted by my cemetery?
The headstone meets Australian Standards, but every cemetery sets its own rules on sizes, bases and materials, so check with the cemetery office before you order. Send us the cemetery name and we will confirm the requirements for you; in Perth we work to the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board rules and can install for you.
